Frequently Asked Questions

What does the SuperMinds curriculum focus on?

Most people associate public speaking with memorising a script and delivering a polished performance. At SuperMinds, we take a fundamentally different approach. Our curriculum for children aged 9 to 12 is built around developing thinking skills, teaching kids to organise their thoughts, speak with clarity, and express ideas authentically in the moment.

We train children to be comfortable with pauses, to trust their own voice, and to communicate without relying on a script. The goal is not a child who can recite a prepared speech. The goal is a child who can think on their feet, respond naturally in any situation, and grow up with a healthy, confident relationship with communication as a whole.

These skills go far beyond the classroom. Whether your child is answering a question in class, presenting to an audience, or simply speaking up in a group, what they build at SuperMinds stays with them, because it is rooted in genuine expression, not performance.

What age group are SuperMinds public speaking classes for?

SuperMinds public speaking classes for kids are designed for children aged 9 to 12 in Singapore. Classes are held at 250 Tanjong Pagar Road, St Andrew’s Centre #04-01, a 5 to 8-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

How many students are in each class?

SuperMinds keeps class sizes to a maximum of 8 students per session. This ensures every child receives personalised attention and sufficient practice time from trainer Iwan Yang, an ICF Certified Coach and MOE-Registered Educator.

Can my child join mid-term?

Yes. SuperMinds uses an open enrolment model with topical, non-sequential sessions. Children can join at any point during the term and fees are prorated based on the remaining sessions. There is no need to wait for a new term to start.

What happens in a trial class?

A trial class is a full 1.5-hour session where your child participates alongside other students in the regular weekly programme. The trial class fee is S$59.50, collected upfront. There is no obligation to continue after the trial.

Is this suitable for a very shy child?

Yes. SuperMinds classes are specifically designed for children who are not natural speakers. The small group environment of maximum 8 students allows shy children to build confidence gradually in a safe, supportive setting. Many of our students start as reluctant speakers and develop into confident communicators over one term.

How is SuperMinds different from speech and drama classes?

Speech and drama focuses on performance, scripts, and theatrical expression. SuperMinds focuses on practical communication skills children use every day, including speaking up in class, presenting to an audience, handling PSLE oral examinations, and expressing ideas clearly in group discussions.

Where are classes held?

SuperMinds classes are held at 250 Tanjong Pagar Road, St Andrew’s Centre #04-01, Singapore 088541. The centre is a 5 to 8-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station on the East-West Line (Exit A). Public parking is available nearby. c

Who teaches the classes?

All SuperMinds classes are designed and taught by Iwan Yang, the founder and principal trainer. Iwan holds credentials including ICF Certified Coach, MOE-Registered Educator, ACTA Certified Trainer, and NLP Licensed Practitioner. He is also a Toastmasters Multiple Award Winner and has coached more than 2,000 students and working professionals.
